EconoCity is a browser game run by one person. This page says exactly what it stores about you, who else gets to see any of it, and how to make it go away — in the same plain terms the rest of the site is written in.
Who is responsible
EconoCity is operated by IĮ „Technologica Ecliptica“, which is the data controller for everything described here:
- Company code 301791620, VAT code LT100005306715
- Šiaurės pr. 5-31, 49189 Kaunas, Lithuania
- rytis@techec.lt
For anything on this page — a question, a copy of your data, a deletion — write to that address. A reply comes from a person, not a ticket queue.
What the game stores about you
Three kinds of thing, and nothing else:
- Your account. The email address you register with, the display name you choose, and your password — stored only as a scrypt hash, which cannot be turned back into the password. Also when the account was created and when it was last used.
- Your city. Every lot you buy, road you lay, building you put up, price you set and payment the simulation makes on your behalf. This is the game: it is stored against your player number because it has to be, and other players can see the public parts of it on the map.
- Server logs. The web server records each request — IP address, time, page, browser user-agent — which is how abuse and breakage get investigated. Kept 14 days, then deleted automatically.
No payment data at all. Nothing in EconoCity is for sale today, so there is no card number, no billing address and no payment processor. If that ever changes, this page changes with it and says who handles the money.
What is stored on your device
One item, in your browser's local storage, called econocity.token. It is the sign-in
token that keeps you signed in; it expires after 30 days, and signing out removes it. The game sets
no cookies of its own and runs no analytics — no Google Analytics, no tracking pixels, nothing
counting your visits.
What other companies see
Google AdSense shows the advertising that pays for the server. Google may set its own cookies or read device identifiers to choose and measure ads, including personalised ads based on what it already knows about you. That data goes to Google, not to us: we never see who you are to them, and they never see your account.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you are asked before any of that happens, through Google's own consent notice — the one offering Consent and Manage options on your first visit. Reopening it from the ad controls is how you change your mind later; declining leaves you with non-personalised ads rather than no game.
You can also turn personalised advertising off, or see what Google thinks you are interested in, at My Ad Center. How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is described in Google's own notice.
Google Fonts serves the two typefaces this site is set in, so loading a page tells Google your IP address. Discord, if you follow the link to the community, is a separate service under its own privacy policy. Nobody else receives anything: your data is not sold, rented or shared with any other party.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Under the GDPR: your account and your city are processed to perform the contract you enter by registering — without them there is no game. Server logs rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the service up and unabused. Advertising cookies rest on your consent, collected through the notice described above and withdrawable at any time.
How long any of it lasts
- Account and city — for as long as the account exists.
- Detailed money history — about two days, then folded into monthly totals. The game posts thousands of small movements a day, so it keeps the detail only long enough to be useful.
- Server logs — 14 days.
- Database backups — snapshots every 15 minutes kept for a day, and one daily snapshot kept for a fortnight. A deletion works its way out of the backups within two weeks.
Deleting your account
Email rytis@techec.lt and it is done. Your email address, display name, password hash and sign-in sessions are erased, so nothing left in the database identifies you.
What cannot be erased is the city. The land, roads, buildings and cables you built are part of a world everyone else is playing in — other players own the plots next door, buy power across your cables and route around your holdings. Deleting all of it would rewrite their game, not just yours, so it stays on the map as the property of a player number with no person attached to it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, correction of anything wrong, deletion, a portable export, or restriction of what we do with it — and you can object to processing based on legitimate interest. Write to the address above; there is no form. If you are unhappy with the answer, you can complain to the Lithuanian State Data Protection Inspectorate (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija) or to the supervisory authority where you live.
Children
EconoCity is not aimed at children and accounts are not knowingly created for anyone under 13 — or under 16 in countries where that is the age at which you can consent to this sort of processing on your own. If a child's account has been created, write in and it will be removed.
Changes
The game is under active development, so this page will change as it does. The date at the top is when it last did, and anything that materially affects you will be announced in the game and on the Discord rather than quietly edited in.
